Passover – Cross. Read Ex 12: 11 – 14; Mark 14: 16 – 26 and 1Cor 11: 23-26.
NKJ Hebrews 10:1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.
Whatever pictures or types that we read of in the Old Testament record of the Old Covenant, it is often vague and difficult to clearly recognise. At the same time they certainly point to Christ and help us to see more of His glory.
This little table shows how the “shadow” is surpassed by the “Sun.”

(Please remember these are just notes)
NKJ 1 Corinthians 5:7…. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
This is the profound statement concerning Jesus. The original Passover and remembrance completes its function by pointing to the true Passover (like the true Manna come down from heaven), so whilst we recognize the significance there is no need for us (members of the New Covenant) to keep the Passover.
NKJ 1 Peter 1:18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, ……..
NKJ 1 Peter 1:19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
NKJ Revelation 5:12 saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!"
The Passover lamb protects the firstborn of the family.
The Passover Lamb is the Firstborn Who dies for the world.
Thus Jesus, as the Son of Man who is also the Son of God supersedes the Passover of the Old Covenant and introduces a new memorial of the New Covenant.
This cup is the new covenant in My blood.
The Jews remember the Passover and look back.
Remembered once a year.
The Lord’s Table does much more.
Past – remember My death.
Present – this do.
Future – till I come.
Remembered at Easter, every Sunday as the first (resurrection) day of the week and whenever we wish when we are together.
